THIEF 4 Finally Announced

I loved Deadly Shadows. My favorite part was getting to explore the city and do my own thing. Hopefully in the next one they will take this to the extreme and give it a huge sandbox feel where you can just go around breaking into houses and robbing people on your own time.
 
Oh well, hopefully it doesnt get lobotomized.
I loved Thief 2. 3 was okay, the gameplay area was too strict.
4 seems stupid already. Great start. :|
 
I'm not about to judge a game by it's title and Thief did some great stuff with stealth gaming that nobody has entirely picked up on. I'm looking forward to this...

Yeah, that would be great. But I really hope it won't be a dumbed down sandbox like Fallout 3.

If what Deus Ex 3 is slowly shaping up to is anything to go by, I'm not holding my breath for Thief 4 either.

We're always expecting that. When you have such hardcore fans, they're protective, and they're very vocal. We understand all that, and we expect them to continue in that vein, so our mandate is to bring this game to a new level, and it's a challenge to reassure the old fans, but we want to introduce this classic franchise to new fans, so that's going to be our challenge. We won't be able to please 100% of the fanbase, but we're going to do our best to have the least compromise possible.

iii - Yeah, that reminds me a bit of Fallout 3 but they talked more about providing a place for fans to put their ideas so maybe they'll listen more. The backlash quote is the real poison dagger for me.

And suddenly the Bullshit-o-meter exploded.
 
At least on the Official Thief 4 Forums it already becomes apparent that the general sentiment among fans is that certain consolitis-induced elements of Thief 3 pretty much ruined the experience, and ThiAf should draw inspiration mainly from 1 and 2.

Not that it could definitely affect the outcome, but It's a start.
