Just found this today. It's in the data files; NAR_9.TXT under Text/English/Cuts:

[spoiler:3e9f8b6b6e]
It is done.
Vault Thirteen belongs to the Unity and the Master.
Your knowledge of the Vault defenses saved many mutant lives during the attack.
You personally made the final kill when you took the life of the Overseer.
You will certainly become one of the finest soldiers for the Unity, and your skills will see you rewarded often in the future.
You are happy.
But there remains the tiniest doubt of what could have been...
[/spoiler:3e9f8b6b6e]

Sweet :) I would have liked to see that in the game.

Is there a mod to still have this cutscene because this is what my mod is about.

Is it really cut from the game? I remember something along those lines if you gave the location of V13 to Lou.
Well, there is the video of you being dipped and another of invading the vault, but this file is in the files that are read by Ron Pearlman. In other words he would have read that off verbatim before or after those videos play and ive never seen that happen.

And what is worse: if you decide to help the Master, after that video you mentioned you get thrown back at the game's Main Menu, which I always considered a form of "GAME OVER U LOSER" message. I always thought this went against the game itself which offered choices and options often.

Hmmm, good point. I never thought of that before...

It wouldn't unless you unpacked them from the main data files :P Don't worry about it.

I agree. I always felt that, okay, say I decided the Overseer sucks. Screw that guy anyway. Mutants are kinda cool. Wait, I can become one? Sweet! Wait.... F**K!!

There should be a mod that allows you to continue, as a mutant. I'd get to it, but alas my PC bit the dust.

I watched a Blind Playthrough on YouTube and this happened to him. He was talking to the Lieutenant and was like "Join you? Hmmm... OK"

[cutscene of dipping plays]

"Oh.. huh. Oops."

It's an interesting idea... I mean for someone never having played the game, and thus seeing the story unfold, they wouldn't know that the Overseer is a douchebag until later on. So at the beginning, becoming a mutant really IS a bad thing. But after playing the game, you know you're gonna get kicked out.

Plus, assuming your brain doesn't go to shit like all the muties except a couple, who says you couldn't join them specifically to infiltrate and assassinate the leaders?

What would be the tangible in-game consequences of becoming a mutant? Like on your stats, player interactions, quests, etc etc.

I suppose maybe it could drop your INT, but you'd be able to talk to all the muties and Children and whatnot without getting in combat. There's lots of interesting things that could be tried/implemented

I don't think we should be able to continue playing as a supermutant. The game should imho just end there and give us a different alternative ending.

Also, having played the game already and knowing the Overseer will kick us out is not the only reason to choose joining the Unity. Actually it'd be pretty poor to make it possible just because of metagaming. Fallout is a RPG and I don't see why our character can't simply be convinced by the Master that Unity is the best way.

After all, when you meet the Master you actually can have a debate about Unity, and you can convince him that his project is doomed to fail because of the sterility problem. Why can't we RP that it worked the other way round and that our character was convinced?

Well, actually player should be able to join to Unity as human, make some quests and then be changed into Super Mutant, what would end the game. Ofc. that was cuted.

But this is not how the transformation worked. The mutants captured humans, dipped them, done. There is no "you must be a cool dude, do some jobs for us and then we dip you"-scene. This would feeling out of setting anyway, imo.

The mutants captured humans,
Not all of them. There is some humans in Cathedral, who are prepared to change into Super Mutants. Vault Dweller will be one of them. After brainwashing they are better soldiers etc. How u played Fallout 1, that u miss that?

And if Master can use Vault Dweller to destroy BoS, why not?
