Travels With Tandi

Over the last few months, have been dabbling in FO for PC and Mac.

One object of attention, has been keeping Tandi in the group as long as possible. Similar problems as keeping Dogmeat. And more. Can't park her in an elevator or behind a door. Millitary Base takes a lot of reloads, and I WOULDN'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY; in case the JE style of once around the wasteland is becoming vogue.

The player character in FO is the focus of most or many attacks, so manuvering away from the NPC's helps. Got the best armor so can take the hits.

Getting Tandi to use a gun takes the will to reload once you realize she ain't gonna drop the knife.
You need to steal it in Shady Sands before she's so romantically abducted by the Raiders.
Finally used the 14mm pistol, and I forget where that happened.

Made me sooo happy tho....

Before Midnight..... Have to get her home to Daddy before the end game explosions, or she's MIA and presumed DEAD for the end tally of your acheivements.

But y'all learned this back in High School, right?

Question to the Forum: Any similar experiences to relate?

I remembered saving Tandi from the raiders and thinking, "Gee, another NPC to help me. I'd have to be an idiot to return back to her father right away."

Oh, naive and silly Gunslinger.

Anywho, Tandi's tendency to whip out the knife was getting on my nerves. So right off, before even attempting ro rescue her, I sneaked into her cell and snatched the knife. Then I killed the raiders, rescue the girl, and we're having a dandy time gun-battling in random encounters, right?

WRONG.

Okay, you'd figure that a 14mm bullet is bound to hit something, especially at the exorbitant price they're sold at. But for all its bad-ass sound, its got the temperment of a derringer. Unfortunately, I had loaded Tandi up with 500 rounds of 14mm rounds. And remember, in the old Fallout One days, you could only access your NPC's inventory via barter screen; you'd either have to steal from them or buy back the stuff you had originally given away from free. Now my main character, being a gunslinger, wasn't the sort of folk who practiced stealing, right? I think my max Steal skill ever was about 30% or something. And I sure as hell wasn't going to buy back *my* ammo. So I took a long and meandering path through the Vault 15 and Shady Sands area, encountering radscorpions, rats, and mole rats. Even then, Tandi still had trouble landing a shot. I made Tandi waste all her ammo and then went through the same ordeal when I foolishly armed her with a Alien Blaster and a mess of small fusion cells (Oh, naive and silly Gunslinger). Needless to say, if Tandi had trouble handling the 14mm, then she most definitely had trouble gunning Energy weapons.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I took some Rad-X pills, went to the crater near the Glow, and let the radiation take care of that bitch in a humane and gentlemanly manner.

Well, I can't say that I've ever taken Tandi with me for a journey about the wasteland & that is reason enough for another playthrough. I do have a question on your tale of woe however & that comes down to this: She died of rads? As far as I know, the radiation of the glow has no effect on npc's. Is there a difference in Tandi because she was not supposed to be recruited or is memory over time slightly flawed?

She DIED in the Glow, Lark!!!! *wink wink* No questions!

*psst* Gunslinger, ya stuck er in the back of the head with an Iguana-on-a-stick didn't you!

Mohrg

I dunno if I would call it "clean," but yeah, it sure as hell is simple...

Okay, she may have not died from the radiation.

I may be thinking of the time I let Myron die in the Ghoul reactor. Point is, both useless NPC's took dirtnaps.

Gratuity

When were the points given for rescuing Tandi?

If given when back to Shady Sands; how many more sacrificed the experience points, for returning Tandi, when that reward was a significant amount, for instant gunslinger gratification?

And how many took on the challenge of keeping a maximum level of NPC's alive?
