Tunnel snakes as a major faction

Well, Khans had like one member left after Fallout 1 and they (he) gathered more people to create New Khans.

So just becuase only Butch had the balls to go out and the skill to survive doesn't mean that he couldn't recruit new members in the wasteland.

But "major" faction? Pfft, no.
A minor gang faction like Kings in FNV on the other hand? Yeah I can see that working.

Not saying it would be a good idea, Just wondering what your reaction would be if you started up fallout 4 and were attacked by tunnel snakes that had grown to the size of the jackals, vipers, or khans and if you think it could be handled in a way that makes sense.

If you think about it are the kings any less ridiculous?

What would your reaction be? Could it be done right?

My immediate, unquestioning, absolute reaction would be to unload all my ammunition onto anything wearing those cursed jackets in the vicinity to eradicate the evolutionary mistake as fast as possible.

Could it be done right? Sure, if the most powerful force in the United States of America could be blown apart by a group of muties, why can't a questionable gang from a vault have survived?

On a serious note, if they do come back, it should only appear as an easteregg/joke and that totally depends on how far ahead time has progressed. Keep in mind, if you chose to evacuate Vault 101 in Fallout 3 in the side quest, Butch can appear in Rivet City, showing the break up of the Tunnel Shakes. Also depends on the location, it would be highly unlikely any of those pathetic tunnel snakes could even make it past the Capital Wasteland.

As for the Kings, their nothing more than just greased muties that mock a famous American icon.

One Enclave, One America.

Kings are muties? Bullshit.

Why yes! All wastelanders exposed to harmful radiation causing drastic genetic mutation that has been passed on through generations and generations are in fact, mutant. Yes, they stem from humanity, but don't let their looks fool you, they are far from human. Enclave scientists over the course of many decades researched the scale of mutations after the Great War. The Enclave being the most advanced, sophisticated and last remaining legal body of the United States government concluded that these survivors of the Great War have had unfortunate biological changes which lead to their disbandment from pure humanity. Though many will disagree, the Enclave was the only organization that had the technology and intelligent minds to perform in-depth genetic research on the occupants living on the mainland. Unless you consider those...Followers of the Apocalypse to be credible scientists, especially the one with spiked hair, quite amusing.

Anyhow...I believe I discussed this before and I do not want to start a debate that takes the topic off course from the original post.

God Bless the Enclave, God Bless the True American People.

They should be a faction of Hairdressers that use Scissors, razors and Hairdryers urned into energy weapons to rule DC with an iron fist.

You should totally send your resume to Beth, that idea is your first step to total success around there

Control vaults as well as still-operational sealed experiments would have been just as "human." That's why The Enclave needed V13's inhabitants in the first place-- Curling and his chemical corps needed pre-war genetic stock but Enclave citizens were off-limits. There's a minute chance that some of the survey personnel from Vault 101's brief flirtation with the outside world had acquired mutations, but at the time of the Lone Wanderer's departure, not enough time had passed for those (theoretical) mutations to have made their way into the vault's gene pool at large. The odds are the that the Tunnel Snakes ranked higher in the Enclave's purity hierarchy than many members of their own expeditionary forces.

As you say, though, that's sort of beside the point. I don't see the Tunnel Snakes working as a faction simply because there were only ever three members, one of whom was dead and another of whom left the group. If they were ever to be resurrected, it would have to be by the force of Butch DeLoria's charisma-- not incredibly likely. Even if he succeeded, the sorts of people who would be willing to follow him (that is, fellow 101 Dwellers who don't already think of the Snakes as a joke or wasteland denizens more dithering and less experienced than a vault-soft hairdresser) would be impossibly hard to come by, and wouldn't be very likely to hold together for long as a group (or in truth, to survive long at all).

Oh my god, can you stop with that crap?
It's his shtick now. Like Surf Solar, only instead of hating absolutely everything he just loves everything about the Enclave no matter how stupid it is.

Tunnel Snakes a major faction?
No.

Either way its kind of annoying.

But yeah as stated above I think it would make an amusing easter egg.

Somewhere, Todd Howard is scrupulously taking notes.
I'd say BonusWaffle IS Todd Howard who wants to avoid pissing off the NMA crowd because he somehow learned that he can only go so far until people call bullshit.
But then I remembered that Todd Howard doesn't give a shit, and neither do his fans.

I'd be ok with Tunnel Snakes being referenced as an easter egg/cameo appearance, I guess.

But really...I would love for FO4 to have almost nothing to do with any of its prequels, if only because FO3 and FONV have recycled so much from FO1/FO2.

^^^^

Eh, Fallout 3 recycled stuff from Fallout 1/2, Fallout New Vegas expanded on Fallout 1 and 2.

As for the Tunnel Snakes as a major or even minor faction, they are bunch of punks, not even a real raider gang. And I doubt Butch has the stones to actually found a raider gang with the same name, so no.

The ONLY Tunnel Snake that should show up anywhere is Butch.

I can see him escaping weather or not you evacuated 101, especially if you finish with Amata as overseer, she'd be more than happy to send him on his way.

But yes, it should only be a cameo or SMALL reference, nothing major like a huge well formed raider gang.
