those pictures are taken by sat. they're composites of many satelite images.

i can only assume that the pic is just a pic of greenland in the fading sunlight (read orange glow) mashed together with daylight pictures.

hence, orange monolith?

PS: no, my avatar has nothing to do with this. really. it doesnt.

You think that's weird, but not the fact that the rest of Greenland is divided into segments with straight borders? Oh well, composite satellite photos never lie, right?

If the image is not an image error or anything such, My two guesses would be the reflection of the sunset like Suaside said, taken in the evening when someone wanted to just hurry up and get home instead of wait tomorrow to take another photo.

My second guess would be volcanic activity under the surface of the ice maybe?

I don't think you'd even see the orange, it'd presumably be a cloud of steam.

Just an artifact of the composite image, methinks.

I say it's piece of plastic floating around somewhere in space and it's placed in a big white lump no one would care to properly photograph by complete coincidence.

I think those sharp contrasting lines in Greenlands interior can best be explained by a bored God who figured no one would bother to explore that far and so he made Greenland without as much effort as the rest of the world.

Anyway, its not as cool as this:
google-earth-bug.jpg

The giant insects are attacking the forests! Run for your life!

edit:

We can clearly see that it's Magmogon, The Lava God emerging from his icy tomb.
So is that thing on the left side of the "touch-up" his ear or his really small penis?

So they're *sure* it's not another Lost hatch?

I find that, or the Magmogon theory, much more plausible. Overlapping images, puh-lease...

No one believes talking lizards.

As far as general world population, lizard credibility is down there with nuns, mexicans, American war veterans and John Romero.
