Vertibird mod/Megamod - how to fly the damn vertibird

I know this has been posted before, but a full answer has never been given. I've been playing the megamod for quite a while now and would like to visit the BoS bunker, but I need a vertibird for that. So I learned (from a forum) that I can steal one from Navarro. After talking to the landing pad guard, a vertibird touches down, but I can't steal it yet. I know I need to get a pilot perk from some guy in Broken Hills (I talked to everyone in there and I couldn't find the pilot guy). I also know I need to talk to Maria in Navarro, but she tells me to go away cause she's busy with some inspection. So could someone please post a full walkthrough for getting the vertibird? Pretty please?

I just waited hour at once and then tried to speak to maria, eventually I could. Guy who teaches you how to fly is at broken hills bar.

I have no idea how to get more fuel to vertibird.

i am trying the megamod for the first time ant i too cant find out how to fly the verti.
There is a good megamod guide on the web so i tried both ways....the verti has landed, i got the pilot perk from Broken Hills, got the blank form and talked to the guy to send vertibird to Reno...still i can only access the trunk. After that i killed the whole base and still there is no hand symbol appering on the cockpit. I even tried to edit the casear.int in the savegame but i do not know what the values should be. Can anybody help please?

hey man, i tried it too and i cant seem to find any solution on flying the verti. im tired of this unfinished game
