Wasteland 2 Kickstarter Update #1

WorstUsernameEver

But best title ever!
A sum of $ 243,033 has already been raised for Wasteland 2's Kickstarter, and if it keeps up at this steady pace, it will probably be more by the time I click "submit" to this newspost, and it's worth noting that Brian Fargo has written the first update, which mentions the chance of a Russian localization for the title, and points to a guide for Russians that want to pledge:
WOW!!! You guys are amazing! The fans are really stepping up here with donations and spreading the word. I haven't been more excited to make a game in over a decade. It is a dream to focus all my attention on making a wonderful experience without distraction from outside forces. We will not let you down!

Я не знаю английский язык. Как мне поддержать Ваш проект?

Also for our Russian fans, our buddy Yegor at fallout-archives put together instructions for how to pledge and navigate Kickstarter. If our funding stays at this rate we will be able to localize in Russian. Thanks a ton, Yegor! http://blog.fallout-archives.com/podderzhim-fargo-vmeste

Glad to have been of help Mr Fargo et al.

Can't wait for more news, loving the positive vibe this project is generating.

Yeah, I can do it for them.

I localised Olympus 2207 demo from RU to EN, so I can would happily do it vice-versa for Wasteland 2.

I wonder where should I propose my services? :)

well, for one, a group of people should be involved. preferably using something like notabenoid, hell i might pitch in myself

It's doing amazing! It went up 40,000 while I cooked and ate dinner. Stunning!

This is looking like it's actually going to happen!

**Edit** Holy crap, as I posted this, they got 2 10,000 donations back to back! So cool to see people with money stepping up to the plate.

Just pledged $50 myself, and now it's up to $363,214 as of this post. Already over a third of the way to their goal and it just started, awesome! Shows how much people really want to go back to a classic gamestyle

It's interesting to see which reward tiers have the most backers. Looks like $15, $50 and $100 are the sweet spots.

Publishers should be taking notice, but given the current state of the games industry, they won't.
Why should they? I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, and I'm going to kick in some money after pay day, but I'm pretty sure that in dollars spent for dollars earned, something like Mass Effect is still a better investment. The major publishers might be seeing shrinking revenues because of the economy, the falling retail price of games relative to inflation, the growing used games market, etc, but going niche won't make any of those things go away. If anything it means competing for a smaller customer base with companies like, say, CD Projeckt who are much better suited to take advantage of that niche.

This has nothing to do with the big publishers besides reaffirming what we already knew: that games can be made for smaller budgets outside of that system. There's a reason that the idea of this having an effect on publishers has been a running joke with Tim Schaefer.

It slowed down considerably now that USA sleeps.
Come on Euro-scum, it's our turn to shine!

Would love to see Chinese people drop in and support the game. It would be over in a few minutes.
