What happened to the Children of the Cathedral?

Anyone have any idea what happened to the Children of the Cathedral after their cathedral got blown up? Did they just disperse or regroup at some hidden location? Even though the master and the leaders were dead, there must have been a large number of priests, servitors and fanatics left over, and being so fanatically loyal I doubt they could have just allowed the organisation to dissolve. According to Fallout 1 they had openned chapters in a number of cities, presumably to the east north and south of the area covered in Fallout 1. Presumably, at least some of the nightkin would stay with the children, rather than fleeing east with the rest of the mutant armies... any ideas as to what happened to the children?

Two words - "secret sect".

Working to return the Master from the dead, of course, and secretly experimenting with FEV.
 
Just the most logical thing that came to my mind. I mean, what else would a sect of a dead "god" do?
 
In Fallout 2 theres a woman (In Becky's Casino) in the Den who tells you about the Master. If i remember right, she said something like this: "some of them even committed a suicide".
So i think that most of them made a suicide after The Masters defeat.

Bah! FO2 designers told so much nonsense that I prefer not to believe them.
 
In F01, if you kill the Lieutenant then the Children in the control room will kill themselves, so it could well be true.
 
I think they're hiding away somewhere, experimenting with FEV like APTYP said, planning their next move to bring about the unity of non-humans. They've probably already created a new master, maybe even uglier than the old one.
