Which Armor to wear?

Replaying Fallout 2 at the moment seems like a new game (haven't played it in over a year). But now I decided to have help from a little magic box and from some strange karmic twist started the game with Hardened Power Armor and Adv. Power Armor Mk.II. Now obviously, the latter is much better stat-wise. But is it really better? I mean the original power armor was THE ORIGINAL. Its a classic, it has more a 1950's look and actually looks like a radiation suit made to fight in (with the gas transfer hoses and aiming recticle). However, the APA (advanced power armor) is taller, more imposing, and has a darker shade giving it a more evil and dominant appearance. But it also makes you look like a giant walking beetle (at least those shoulder pads make it look like that). So whats your opinion? Good old Brotherhood Silver, or the New and Improved?

Armor?

I like the vault 13 suit personally... makes enclave patrols sure death and deathclaws/aliens/centuars/floaters just a step above. If you go HtH you gotta do it without armor :)

OPA (original powered armor) makes you look like a big, silver monkey saying "hit me. I dare you." Combat armor mapes you look like a soldier. APA does, somewhat, but not nearly on the leavel of CA.

I'd have to say the best armour is combat leather jacket. It looks cool and provides alright protection. Make you look a like Mad Max to. Gives that wasteland survival feel.

I must say, i was very disappointed at the look and feel of the APA....i mean the power armor looks just so damn futuristic, you know like a space suit or some shit, but then comes along this big black suit that makes you look like a fuckin gorilla...i say power armor all the way...PLUS you're just too damn invincible with the APA MKII, so its a lot more sporting to go with the power armor.

If you want a real weird look. Try standing next to the car in APA. It looks _totally_ out of place.

id go with the bridge keepers robes. its so much fun carrying around 2 guass pistols in robes with fast shot, Bonus ROF, 12 aps, and killing children.

Armor

The Advanced Power Armor MKII is way much better than the first one, but for real expierence, use Brotherhood armor instead. It's not as good as MKII, but you don't need the worlds best armor anyway, at least not in the beginning..

I disagree.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here.

I like the APA in Fallout 2 and I do think it's very retro.

It looks like an old flame thrower/chemical weapon mask from WW2. There's even a nazi-esque trench coat look to the way the shoulders are done.

Also, look at the construction of the thing. Pop rivots and car parts, from the looks of the thing. Distributor wires on the side of the mask and a radiator hose up top.

The T-51b looks more "home appliance", while the APA looks more "vehicular" in terms of the parts used.

I don't see how the original suit has a 1950's look.

But in any case, I like the new armor better. More futuristic, and the Enclave are the high tech guys of the future, so it fits perfectly.

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON May-12-01 AT 11:38PM (GMT)[p]Hmm, let's see... I'm tearing between FO1's power armor and combat armor. Combat armor model has backpack, dark glasses and a helmet. Power armor is making you look slightly out of place because of its contrast with what the majority of desert dwellers wear. When compared to their outfit, it's high tech, yet for the gamer it looks so anscient (just as if it came out of 1950s). Makes you look like an anscient artifact.

Enclave's power armor is very similar to the gas masks, with exceptions such as the eyepieces of the helmet are way too small compared to the ones on gas mask. Oh, and it's all metal. I HATE PA Mk.2 Too curvy and slick. PA Mk.1 was bulky, its form was purely functional. Not so with Mk.2

Thank you.

Everyone, here is a prime example of the cattle that have attributed to the downfall of Fallout. Notice how they don't give a shit about the basis or the concepts of the game. It's a wonder this one hasn't gone onto the Next Shiny Thing and forgotten already about Fallout.

Go play Diablo 2, kiddo. Lots of mindless action there. If you want any respect here, learn something about Fallout and aknowledge what it is.

Let's throw it out and take something from Baldur's Gate."

First off, don't talk down to me, second off, I said I don't see how it has anything to do with the 1950s, and I still don't. The armor looks like a crude futuristic piece of armor to me, nuff said.

Hmm, sorry kid, but no. I don't see any 1950s influence in the armor. Nuff said. If you don't like my opinion, then go stick your penis in a deli slicer for all I care.
