Windows 7 save file location for fallout 2

I'm losing my mind trying to find my save file location for fallout 2 my os is windows 7 and when I do any searches on the subject all I can find is a location for windows vista which I tried and also didn't work

I seem to remember loading saved games from the original, non-Vista-ified save location after moving my files from Win 98 to Win 7.

Then what is the usual place to find them?

The usual location is Fallout2\Data\SAVEGAME.

The only things in my fallout 2\DATA folder are Maps proto and sound so still making no progress here

Press [Win]+[F] and search for SAVEGAME, see if it turns up.
Have you installed the game under "C:\Program Files"? That can often lead to problems, even under Windows 7. I'm not sure if the missing Savegames are a part of it, though.
