Writing an article about the evolution of warfare

I'd suggest you read William Manchester's Arms of Krupp if you're looking for a chronicle of how warfare has changed over the past few hundred years, specifically with regard to the military-industrial complex. It's not too specific for modern times, but it definitely helps identify some of the major trends.

And since it's Manchester it's an awesome read.

EDIT: Also, we need a "Welsh's required reading list" thread or something, because this is getting ridiculous.
