WW1/WW2 Resource Management RTS?

Ever since playing Red Alert 2, I've been looking for a 20th Century RTS set in our universe (be it a World War, or Vietnam War, or Afghan invasion etc). Is there seriously no such?

Sudden Strike, Hearts of Iron, for WWII.
Wargame: European Escalation is also pretty neat.

Soldiers: Heroes of World War II.
Sudden Strike II.
Blitzkrieg.

Not sure how many of those have resource management though in a C&C style if that's what the topic title implies.

Oh and also Men of War and Act of War. Act of War is a C&C clone so should be pretty close.

All of those look pretty interesting. Especially Company of Heroes.

World in conflict. The story is crap but the game is good.

Played the game, but I wouldn't say the story is crap. Most strategy games - at least to my knowledge - rarely have anything resembling one at all.

Thanks for the suggestions too.

Company of Heroes is the best one imo. It's pretty similar to Warhammer 40k gameplay wise.

Sudden Strike comes to mind. Also that Sudden Strike game set in WW1 setting (don't remember the name). Always wanted to play the WW1 themed game, but somehow never came to it...

I find it amazing that there's little games covering that era. Plenty of room for action, strategy and roleplaying.

Men of War is an pretty awesome game, also somewhat difficult. And the story is decent as well, even though the German and British campaign is somewhat short compared to the Soviet one - but the developer is an Russian/east european team, so make out of that what you want. The addons for Men of War are good as well. There is even one with the Vietnam war but people say its not THAT great. Still, if it works like Men of War it has probably great gameplay.

When it comes to WW2 I think Men of War is one of the best RTS out there. There are so many things you can do there. Its awesome. Loved to play it in multiplayer.

Also I think there are tons of mods for Mow out there now, aditional missions, units, realism changes etc.

Oh, and then you have of course the other RTS games. Soldiers heroes of WW2, Company of heroes.

Blitzkrieg and Sudden Strike are great as well.

Hearts of Iron III is pretty good. I've heard good things about the Men of War series.

Unity of Command is also great.

Zis one? More like Cossacks but with worse a.i, somehow, from what I've read.

Ooh anyone else played Counter Action? Can find sod all about that game nowadays but I thought it was fun back in the day.

Men of War, a good mix between realism and fun.

You also get to play as the guys in grey. You can say what you will about them, but they had pretty sexy uniforms.

EDIT: Also, of course, the grand strategy games from Paradox. Let's all thank Sweden for this great company.

I have periods of obsession with Hearts of Iron II.

It is strategic, and also good because you can play any country in the world - that exists at the time.
Sometimes I play Peru, just for the lame of it :D

The best thing with HoI II is its easy moddability. I've never considered myself a modder, but with HoI II tweaking and fixing becomes almost routine.

Often, after concluding WW2 I will make so that the timer continues far into the future, and attempt to reconstruct the world, little by little.
In my best attempt I had a near complete 1990s world map, and independent Chechnya - while i was playing as Russian Federation, harassing them. Awesome.

The only bugger is that if you mis-tweak it - which is easily done - you may end up crashing up the whole game. This often happened :D

It is called "World War 1 - Grabenkrieg in Europa" I tried to find information about the english title, but can't find anything. The website isn't online anymore as well, because the firm is no more. It also apparently got quite bad reviews, so... no idea if this is a loss or not.

And yes, I am waiting for a good WW1 game since years, but it seems like nobody is interested. Very annoying.

Not everything was trench warfare, otherwise the Battle of Jutland would have been a little weird...ly awesome.

Pretty sure that game wasn't released in English. A shame even if it was a tad naff.

Yea, I was more imagining what a WWI fps would be like.

As for a WW1 themed game, I don't think there was enough technology available that would lend itself to good RTS gameplay. Tanks that barely outrun humans, airbombing had a minimal effect, etc.
