Xbox World 360 UK Fallout: New Vegas preview online

For me, the main reason why F3 sucked balls was all the attempted creativity. I enjoyed Oblivion a lot more because Bethesda weren't trying to be clever or funny, for the most part. Discovering new towns was somewhat exciting because they remained believable in the gameworld, while having their own thing.

In Fallout 1 and 2 discovering new locations was extremely exciting because the thing that they each had going was so well done and interesting. Exploring the ruins of F3, on the other hand was like going from one cringe worthy crap that makes you roll your eyes to the next.

I don't know if Obsidin can get close to F1 and 2 with Beth's influene and all but I think they can do a lot better than Oblivion. This guarantees that it will destroy F3.

To be fair, explosions and violence were also a huge part of the first two games, let's be real here. The main thing Fallout 3 failed at was the story telling. Pure and simple.

Oh yeah, we forgot that previous 2 games were first person shooters.

We should also remember that chess are action games based in medieval times. And Watchmen is a comic book for little kids.

Obsidian have kept Fallout 3’s game mechanics intact because, aside from the complaints of a vocal minority, they worked beautifully well.
It would be nice if these guys would actually read what the people whose asses they are kissing said because even Todd Howard agrees that it's combat is, at best, mediocre.

And that’s when we first saw the cactus. And the blue skies. And the not-so-messed-up town. In Fallout’s world, the West coast of America wasn’t as badly bombed as the East. Sure, enough nukes dropped to devastate the population, but it didn’t blacken the sky and kill off all plant life.
Wow, really? I guess researching what you're writing about is for amateurs these days.

Are you telling me that Fallout 1 and 2 didn't have a lot of violence and explosions? Really? Are you implying only first person shooters can pull that off?

At any rate you took what I said, twisted the meaning, and inserted words in my mouth, so I'm not going to waste much time arguing about this with you.

For the violence and the story telling, i agree. But the explosions in the first 2 games weren't that many. Fallout 1: The Citadel and the Military Base. Fallout 2: The Oil Rig and the toilet in Modoc. Fallout 3 failed with the explosions, because it had them in the most stupid places, like the cars.

Fallout 1 and 2 had grenades, rocket launchers, plastic explosives, Molotov Cocktails, and dynamite.... That's what I'm referring to.

Yeah and Fallout 3 has asplozions every 10 meters. 95% of all cars you can find in the DC area can be asplodet by simple gunfire, which makes driving in a car very dangerous. And people even wanted drivable cars in Fallout 3... more like portable bombs. :>

An orbital laser in an FPS game? I guess you gotta have something for those that can't actually aim.

That's what VATS is for. The laser was just probably inspired by gears of war.
