Ye Olde' NMA Award Show!

Hello Everybody!!! Attempting to become an official regular at NMA, I guess I should post something on the General Board. So here's my idea: How about we make our own Award Post? We can have all sorts of catogories. Miroslav can host this special post, with an admin. as our poster-reader-upper- guy. Here's some catagories we can have, with their speeches:

The Most Ilegible Post: Communication, the most important tool that humanity has. Without communication, civilization would not exist. Unfortunately, several posts on our Beloved NMA board can set civilization back several Millions of Years. Here they are...

Funniest Banning: Flamers and Spammers, the scum of the Board. They destroy all smoothness that exists on the board. But there are several spammers and flamers that have posts that are just plain stupid. Let's honor these poor saps...

Best Quote on the Board:


If we do use these awards, I'd like to submit my own quote, which will now be "Uh Oh".
 
Okay, here's one, the most anal poster: Edward Karlinski.

That guy would flame people for imperfect Fallout fact replies, their spelling, grammar, and even spawned a "hate" group against him which was quickly squashed (forgot the name of the guy who founded that).

This was all before the moderators were added, in fact, it was probably the REASON the moderators were created.

Crazy Movie Parodies!!!

We could all do parodies of movies!!! It could be called "Who Wants to Hunt Regis Philben". I know that I stole that from a certain Magazine Article, but who needs to know that?

How bout best weapon in each category

small guns
big guns

i know a catagory i could win "Best Counter Strike Player"

heres what i think.
small gun: 10mm SMG One of my best fallout memories was the gratuatis violence that this thing caused when i first picked it up from vault 15.

Big gun: Rocket Launcher of course. If you've ever used it, you know what im talking about.

Energy weapon: Alien blaster - its cheap, its energy efficiant, it kills the master in 5 shots "GARUNTEED" (not a garuntee)

Throwing: I dont know about you but i just like the idea of throwing a bottle full of flamable substances at all that oppose me. Does any of you know where Molotov Coctails originated? they were first used in WWII against the commies. Finnish ski troops glided down the mountains and threw these suckers at the poor suckers of the red army. anyway...

Melee: We have a tie here. Theres the super sledge hammer and theres the "Big Frigger" mega power fist. i cant decide... youll have to.

Uh... I think it belongs in 'Hints' section, not 'Awards'. Plus, everybody has personal style - I, for one, like to wander around in purple robe with 2 D.Eagles in my hands :-)

Energy weapon - Alien Blaster?!?! Turbo Plasma Rifle - super-fast and packs quite a punch (especially when targeted).

Small Guns - SMG?!?! Weakest auto-gun in the game. Assault Rifle looks cool, D.Eagle is perfect for beginners, .44mm is ultimate pistol (maybe too ultimate).

We need to have some truly wacky ideas, like best backwards message in a screen name, or best conspiracy! We could even have the worst thread!

you dont understand the point of the award for beast weapon APTYP. The award would be for what weapon YOU PERSONALLY like the most. I realize that the Turbo plasma rifle does more damage than the alien blaster but i just think the AB is freakin cool.

Like I said, everybody has personal style. Some don't care for design or 'coolness', they bet on strength or fire rate. If I think 2 D.Eagles are cool, others might think it is kinda lame (they can't fire at the same time). And if 100 people will think 2 D.Eagles are cool, it still doesn't make it the best weapon - there might be 1000 people who think it's lame.

"I want to know what majority of visitors of NMA think is best", you might say. Well, not eveybody goes to forums, or even goes to General Discussion forum, and polling like this doesn't mean majority of people who will see this message will decide to express their opinion. 10 people will give their opinion, yet 100 will decide to stay aside. You can ask people what is their favorite color of car, and even if you will get 99% saying that red is the best, it will not say anything besides that 99% of people you asked think red is the best.

The problem with polling for best weapons, best NPCs, best towns, best quest, best video is that there is no BEST one - only FAVORITE one. You will be simply gathering personal information. And to think of it, all these polls about the BEST are meaningless...

...For example, best graphic engine should be beautiful, fast, and work fast on low-end computers. Problem is, engine can't have all 3 properties - there are still lots of people who have low-end computers and can't get their Q3A or Unreal Tournament running. Same goes for people's opinions - their race, age, and tendency to stick to people with similar opinions will make any poll meaningless. If you know a makeup of group of people you're going to poll, you can guess the result and don't bother with the process further.

In the nutshell - poll for 'prettiest' weapon, or Beginner's Choice, or Best Alien-Killer (SuperMutant-Killer, Raider-Killer, NavarroGuys-Killer), or Goriest Death Animation. Best Weapon category is too generalized.

yeah i see your point. i guess what i meant by "Best Gun" was "Favorite" or "Coolest". I really just wondered what and why people liked certain weapons.

for example some people love the pancor jackhammer, to me its an allright gun but i wouldnt call my favorite and if it was someones favorite i wanted to know why.

Yeah, I don't like Pancor too (drawn at bad angle and doesn't really fit post-nuclear theme). I'd say 2-barreled shotgun would be good, but it's a ripoff from Mad Max 2. So Combat Shotgun is coolest - black, sleek and has nice, yet practically useless burst mode.

hehe... Doggshot/Reginald... Remember him? lol... and that horrible typo Rosh (I think it was him) made when he was talking about banning him.. "Reginald = Doggshit".

And for that Most Popular Person Award someone else had, I think that I would be the obvious choice :) j/k... Anyway, I think I could get the award for most posts in a set period of time... say, a week or a month... I'm not posting here much anymore, but a while back I posted like CRAZY on the Fo2 Game Help board.. I answered almost every single question given there from April 9, 2000 to around June 15, 2000.. Heh.. I had waaaayyy to much time on my hands around then :)
