Game Banshee captured Vince D. Weller, tied him up with some duct tape, shone a bright light in his face and asked him questions about his upcoming post-apocalyptic fantasy RPG while intermittently cudgeling his face with a lead pipe. Unable to take their merciless abuse anymore, Vince finally broke and spilled more information about Age of Decadence:
<blockquote>"The inventory system is weight-based, similar to Fallout’s inventory system. Space isn’t a factor, so as long as you can handle the weight, you can add an item to your inventory. There are no encumbrance levels and penalties. If you are overloaded, you can’t move until you drop something.

You will be offered quite a few “headquarters”, ranging from a simple room in an inn to more prestigious (it actually does bump up your Prestige rep) quarters in a palace. You can store all your junk there."</blockquote>He also declassified four new screenshots:

Sweet, I was just wondering when the gaming news would pick up again. Since this week seems extremely slow and dull to me...

i don't like the "every imaginable gadget of varied uselessness" thing. it's a pretty harsh value judgement. is it supposed to be some kind of tongue in cheek "lol rpg scenery is filled with bolted down cardboard" joke. or like, "lol this character is a poor sod!" either way i feel bad.

great , round-based games aren't dead. i'm glad to read that.
apparently there's more people like me who doesn't like realtime.

It's a PA setting so I would think the statement is referring to items the NPC collects/buys/sells that are artifacts/gadgets with unknown use... made prior to the Apocalypse. I could be wrong. Either way the text descriptions are a throw back to old school cRPGs were most everything was described for you since the graphics could not display what the artist or story-teller wanted to convey. I'm happy to see it.

It's what caught my eye (and interest) as well, when I read an earlier interview with VD. Then I checked out the website and forums to find out even more. This "indie" team is making a game I have been waiting to play for years. A text heavy cRPG with actual role-playing built into the game, TB combat, a minimum of three (maximum of six or seven) ways to complete any given quest which depend on your skills... dialog options that actually change the world around you and can set major events into motion like the massacre of an entire branch in your guild. All because you did one little quest without weighing the consequences or because you have no idea what the consequences will be because you just aren't given that info from the quest giver.

Should be out this Fall/Winter or possibly early next year. They are near the end and soon entering into the polishing stage of developement if they are not already. This is my most anticipated release besides Gothic 3 (well G3 is actually a not so distant second).

Check out their forums for more info. Being the out-spoken gent he is, VD, is always posting new tidbits in reply to questions posted there.
