Your fallout 4.

First time out of the vault
What traits do you want in the next fallout, like new Vegas, or fallout 4, that were not in fallout 3, but these traits have to be from the old games, like fallout 1 or 2 or even tactics, i would love the old fast travel system with the random encounters, that was really cool.
well until enclave kicked your ass lol :(

Well the thing with perks,is that some were perfect for Fallout 1,2 and tactics, but a change to first person demanded the perks to be either completely cut, or completely redesigned.
Fallout New Vegas, being a first person shooter and all, i dont expect many of the original perks to work with it :(
But,i would love if criticals had a greater role in NV then in Fallout 3, in which case i would love the old sniper perk :)

So, wait, we can only add things that were already in the previous games? That's kind of poor and limiting. Also dumb.

well not necessarily, like if you wanted a jail system that's cool.

:colbert: Limiting it to things to only in the older games keeps it from actually growing, which is a Bad Thing.

well fallout 3 didn't limit itself and it turned into something completely different, and i don't want that again.

if beth will use the same engine they(zenimax) will use for rage you will probably get your wish, it will look like borderlands

I would like to see purely turn based combat make a return, though modern gamers thend to think that it's boring.
But I think turn based combat can be in a modern game without making it boring for the ADS kids today. Why not plan/program your turn and then everything happens like it's a real time battle, only with pauses where you program the next turn?
It would even make turn based combat more "realistic" while not sacrificing anything.
There are pretty much limitless possibilities with modern engines in there.
Different stances, the effect of movement on accuracy (both the target and the shooter), cover, maybe some kind of "run and gun" perk...
Especially cover could make the combat more realistic. Weapons could have a more realistic effect (a headshot could finally be deadly, a crippled leg would have a much bigger effect) because those effects can be avoided more easily.
I'm wondering, are there any games with such a combat system?
I'd be surprised if there isn't at least something similar.
Also, isometric perspective with the option to go first person for exploring/just for fun. Like in that Troika PA tech demo.

Here is what would tickle my balls;

A choice for Turn base fighting, even if the game is 1st person and 3D.

Bring back the atmosphere and ambient of the original fallouts. THey worked a lot better than this new cartoony fallout 3 style. Make it like it was.

The world map travel would b egreat to bring back. The exitement of not knwoing what one is going to encounter on the map, with the return of the outdoorsman skill. The old worldmap would allow a much largre scale of a game, even an entire world map if taken far enough, but at least the entirity of the U.S could be inserted easily. Thre wuold be random fighting maps in desert, cities, towns, long lonesome roads, etc. It would save a lot more room for other important things in the game rather than having wasteland no one ever visits. Also one could find a random farm or house on the world map wwhich you could move into and farm food or osmething, I dont know, and defend it from raiders. You get my point. The traveling in F3 was boring and unexiting, with the enemies being so stupid you oculd jsut run past them whil ethey did absolutely no damage to you.

The figthing was useless in F3, it was horrible. Fallout 3 Reborn v 8 made the game playable though.

My main request would be the world map travel, as one could have so much seperation between NPCs, tribals living in huts, people living in towns and cities and so forth, and the time span would be more realistic also, with travelling on foot taking months on long distances. It would make exploring so much enjoyable and challenging with random events like in the old ones which weren't always in the same places and so forth.

Y'know, they could probably actually get the "big" world map feature back using their fast travel system, but frankly, after having been playing it again, the ceaseless wandering around was pr. atmostpheric and depressing, aside from the nigh-constant random encounters. Basically you'd pull up your pip boy map, you'd get multiple levels of it, starting out wide (eg, Capital Wasteland, The Commonwealth, etc). You'd pick a spot like the Capital Wasteland, and you'd get your little marker to travel, random (interesting, hopefully) encounters could pop up, and then you'd get there, and you'd have a bigger, open area with multiple towns/settlements etc to go through. You'd retain the level of wasteland exploration that FO3 had, but still be able to scale it out wide, and give the implication that the centers of humanity are concentrated.

Or, for the older games, You'd set course for, say, NCR, and when you got to one of the surrounding squares, you'd go to a closer in view, like normal gameplay. (But still imagine this from the first person perspective), maybe you could find little shelters, or landmark type things (where quests could take you, random encounters could happen, etc) and NCR would be out there in the distance. If you were lazy you could use a more local Fast Travel system to get over there, or you could walk and eat up the atmosphere.

I'm kind of rambling, but if that makes any sense to someone, tell me, because I think it's brilliant.

My Fallout 4 is id Tech 5 based. :)
RAGE has great Wasteland.

Uggh, Fallout has enough Doom in it already.

On topic, It will never happen but it would be turn-based, focus more on the survival aspect. It would either take place before the first one (perferred) or after it (don't see my idea working at this time period) and have a story centered around the rise of society and the people who are forced to rebuild. In a way, it would be a heavy social study and hypothesis on how people would act and behave in the rise and return of human society.

The location would be Texas, the gulf coast exactly and would take place around the Houston, Corpus, San Antonio area. I see enough americana and ruinous tech to give player motive to tread closer and closer to the coastline. the closer, the more radiation the PC has to cope with, but the more reward. And yes, Radiation would be dangerous and may be considered a prime antagonist.

I don't see anything to do with any of the other factions that are present, for one they wouldn't exist or have no influence in this area. I only can see ghouls and the rad- infected animals as series returns, maybe a few enclave references. Everything else would be completely new, and expand the lore while safely be away from the main bulk of cannon that's already been established, just to prevent those messy contraditions.

^^^^

Funny, I have also been thinking of a Fallout that takes place in Texas.

It would continue on some of the 'better' elements of FOBOS/FOPOS such as Attis' left over Super Mutant forces, the Caesar's Legion (this is their base of operations) and new elements such as competing city states.

The situation would be about the resurrection of the wasteland, a resurrection that might not include humans or human mutants.

I would happily see the return to isometric view. First-person and isometric view to me tend to be like vanilla and chocolate - at the end of the day I prefer chocolate, although vanilla is OK, if there's not even chocolate around.
That would probably call for turn-based combat too.

I'd be careful about shouting "PREQUEL !" here. That might happen and when Beth is at the helm of that it might make Fallout 1 and 2 like an oasis in a wasteland of shit-story.

Personally I wouldn't mind any kind of story or theatre as long as it's not retarded. I understand how this statement sounds here, but I personally think that Fallout 3 story was exactly that - retarded and weak. So anything that remotely reminds writing would be an improvement over that. I will probably wait to see what New Vegas is going to be like and then I'll either get my hopes up, or lose the last drop of that...

Assuming that NYC was not turned into a giant, smoldering crater, I'd like to see one set there. There's a huge amount of terrain and different areas to work with, nevermind what you could do with any one borough alone. I'd like to see people living in tilted/crashed skyscrapers, or people using the above-ground train lines as the only usable walkways, with the streetlevel/underground being covered with rubble/bullshit.

Or just the east coast in general. It'd be nice to see what happened around the area you kinda know, y'know?

the subways in NYC (+ underground rail roads) make the DC ones look like a joke.

Some in some areas, the NYC subway system is stacked 7 levels deep of tracks going in all directions. Some of the systems have not been used in close to 100 years.

There are also lots and lots and lots of infra structure tunnels (water, power, steam etc) running in and around etc the train and subway tunnels.

WPD

Yeah, that also brings up the idea that NYC is a giant crater from all that collapsing in on itself. That'd be pr. cool too.

Most likely, FO4's gonna take place at the Institute, but I'd like to see one take place more up north, where the seasons have a big effect on life there. Everyone struggles to have supplies ready for when the next harsh winter comes around.

Also, wouldn't mind avoiding NYC becuase it's kind of an over done city.

I would like to see a "city of the future" type place, pretty fictional, a completely planned city, that survives because the city of the future planned for the eventual exchange of nukes.
