From chewie:
With our last news about the birthday of the project, we showed you some of our progress by releasing screenshots. This time we can offer a Showreel about the development of the last weeks which shows some ingame scenes.

We hope to give you a deeper look into Zero and - that could be important for modders - what FIFE is already capable of.

We can't mention that often enough: FIFE is under heavy development and new features are nearly added every day. So we encourage everybody who wants to create an own cRPG (or other type of game) to have a look into FIFE and join the modding community of this engine.

You can grab the video here: Zero Showreel (~40 MB, avi)

Of course this stuff is still WIP - but we'd like to hear your feedback

Nice! Like the guy who's guarding the cave entrance... is he wearing a vault suit ? Great stuff ! :clap:

Hard to tell exactly whats going on since I didn't download the video, but I'm intrigued by what FIFE is capable of creating.

Yes, he has a 101 vault suite and died horrible. ;)

.. and quite often... *scnr*

@bazola

Yep - same here. The features pop up at a nice frequency. There is also a lot more possible then shown in our video. Just check out the videos of the KoN team. They even managed to make dialogues and combat already. -> http://kon.fifengine.de/dokuwiki/videos

They are also working on c++ side to add an overlay feature - which basically means that you can build the PC and NPCs out of single "bricks" like sword, armor, boots... so you don't need to render your character with each weapon, armor etc...

This feature perhaps will be synced with the FIFE core - hooray for Open Source :)

The lastest SVN version of FIFE also already features context menus if you right click on NPCs or objects.

@all

Thanks for the feedback - that's really appreciated :)

Keep up the good work :clap:

Do you mean layered sprites? I can somehow understand why there's no such feature in Fallouts, but I can't understand why it wasn't used in Tatcics.

Anyway, 2d engine without layered sprites it's a very bad idea, IMO.

Nice work at Zero :clap:

Kon reminds a mix between Ultima Online, BG and Diablo, so many memories....

This is a lot more impressive than FIFE island videos. Videos like this push me to work on Shelter more, except I won't really get into it until March 15th.

Heh...well "Netaudio" is a movement - not the name of the track ^^

The track is called "aerial" - and comes with microtonner's release "Sub Zero" on laridea.at (->Release ->021)

I guess you will like the whole album ;-)
