Polygamia.pl has conducted a short interview with Tomasz Majka from Nicolas Games and coaxed a short statement out of Maciej "Augustus" Prósiński:
First of all, RASCAL is not a cRPG. It's a Survival Horror set soon after the beginning of the war, when the surface of the earth is still uninhabitable, and the protagonists of the game were brought up, worked and studied in the normal world, untouched by war, and when the story starts, they have been closed down in one of the big, national shelters for several years. The game's action and setting were designed, of course, aside from presenting an interesting story and giving the players high quality entertainment, introduce the audience to the world of Afterfall through a fragment of its history, seen through the eyes of people like us - people used to peace and prosperity.
Whether or not something with Afterfall in its title comes out before the Rapture remains to be seen.

Link:Afterfall's going to be scary and with no Harry Potter on Polygamia.pl (scroll down for English version)

Ku chwale ojczyzny, obywatelu Ausirze.

Imo, a zombie setting is the easiest thing you can do. Not much story and other interactions needed. Just you, maybe some other NPCs, a few guns and a horde of mindless critters as your generic zombie enemies.

Meh, I am not impressed. Also "(Afterfall:) RASCAL is not a cRPG", this says everything anyway.

No clue, I can't understand polish and so I can't read the rest of the interview. :) Beside this "Survival Horror" and "not a cRPG" is still enough to me. But to be honest, I am just annoyed by this "no informations to the outside"-policy.

The interview is in English too, you just need to scroll down for the English version.

Oh, interesting. :> Well, then I use another excuse: I am at work right now and don't have enough time to read everything. :P

So basically all the content they made for the surface is now dropped off in order to create a Survival Horror in a closed space?

They say that they'll release the RPG too, just later.
Lol, that's not really relevant. Nobody in their right mind will by the survival horror because they want to buy the RPG too. Never happened.

Remember Van Buren and FOPOS? Same thing here, most def.

What are they doing ?
Did they really split their manpower to start a new project while the first one seems nowhere near completion ?

Why ?

From what I remember, they have planned it since a long time. It's supposed to be some kind of technology/mechanics demonstration or something like that.

Exactly Afterfall: Preludium, that supposed to be free for download.

Well, the way I understand this is that they decided to make a less ambitious and more feasible game instead but still want to make the RPG sometime in the future when they hopefully have the money and the resources. In other words, don't hold your breath for an rpg.

Well, it was a news in 2006, but that doesn't mean that he means december 2006. :>
