Bethesda dev talks

Briosafreak informed me that a Bethesda developer named Gary Noonan (Graphics guy) posted his 3 cents on this whole ordeal and here's what he said:
Being a developer at Bethesda, I am also a big Fallout fan. I played all of the titles from FO1 to FOBOS. Not so much a fan of FOBOs or FOT, but I did play them through. To this day, FO1 is still in my top 5 fav games, not just RPGs. The campy humor, the grotesque action, and the integrated pop culture, as well as Pip Boy (can't leave THAT out!) are what allow FO to stand out from other titles. I agree, without these, it is simply NOT FO.

Now, the fact is, this news is just that.... NEWS. I have known about this for some time now, and I have been excited about it since the deal was still in the making. I AM a fan of FO. Who better to have working on a game than a FAN.... someone who knows the game, knows what it's about, knows the mood, knows the setting and atmosphere. Now, as a new development even here in the office, it's still quite a welcoming shock and we are ALL eager to be a part of it. I can't put into words how much I am dying to be a part of it.

So, for all the existing Tes fans, welcome the FO fans. Everyone has their opinions about titles and developers.

For the FO fans joining us, give it a chance. Everyone (well, I really speak for myself) here is excited about this opportunity and it is talked about quite a bit.

And for all, let's keep it cool. As everyone who has been here for a long enough period of time knows, we developers listen to what the fans have to say. The forums are our link to hearing your thoughts and input on aspects of the titles.
So keep it isometric and with TB combat and it'll all be fine..

I'm really scared. I played Morrowind, and it had no depth. I had no attachment.

Damn you Herve.

Damn you to hell.

Bethesda fans shouldn't have ANYTHING to say about it. They should, quite frankly, stfu. If they don't make the game EXACTLY as VB was supposed to be, may they go to hell.

Emails from Pete Hines

I sent Bethesda an email and got a respose back from Pete Hines, sounds like a nice enough chap. And he was willing to talk to me which is rather nice, and a good sign that they will listen to the fans..

First Email
When the time is right I'm sure we will have an official Fallout website, complete with forums.
I'm familiar with No Mutants Allowed. I'm a big Fallout fan too.
Thanks for your email and the kind words Michael (aka Wild_Qwerty).

Second Email
Sure, you're welcome to if you like. We just want to be sure that Fallout
fans know that we're folks who really love Fallout and understand why that
game was so great. It's not something we're undertaking lightly, and I think
when we're ready to start talking about what it is we have planned folks
will be excited. Just don't expect to hear lots of info on the game next
week. It's going to be a while before we starting talking a lot about it.

Best,

Pete

So in short in my opinion the fact that they have a good reputaion for listening to their fans is a really good sign.

We've also gotten some contact with Bethesda and are talking to them, we'll show them what they need to see.. :D

If they turn up with TEH SPACE STATION, they might go to hell too

True dat. They probably won't though. I doubt they're that tarded.

i am afraid they will not keep it isometric. They say some shit about "visually stunning". Let's face it, isometric, no matter how detailed, is not "visually stunning" As for TB combat, I can't remember any betesha cRPG with it. So at this point, I don't think I like idea of Betesha doing F3. Hope i'm wrong...

By its very nature 3D graphics elnd themselves to an isometric world better than any other. Isometric perspective using reall 3D graphics allowing the game to render the details at higher resolution and have a camera rotate option. It could still look just like fallout but not be sprite based. Lets face it, sprites have pretty much done their dash and you cant make a game look as good using sprites. I have played some isometric view games that had good 3D graphics.

Please go to my reply on the topic where we were discussing that. Really. Go.

Glad they are replying though, keep us posted guys, as soon as it`s possible.

They're just being nice to the FO fans to get a good impression, in the end they can be the nicest guys on the planet but its the higher ups who make the the decisions like if it will be Real-time or TB. Looking how they handled the disney/Sea Dogs 2 thing, I'm guessing Real-time.

In time they will probably get fed up with us and do a cartsen "NO MY IDEA BETTA"

Ok you people at NMA who are in contact with Bethsoft, please help me out here. They've talked about multiple platforms. You do realise what a horrible effect a dual platform release for the game will do? Did you play Deux Ex 2? Did you see what Halo was supposed to be, and what it was?

Already on it, this doesn't look good...

Yup. And the Bethesda fanboys who are rooting for console and FPS Fallout games aren't making things easier.
