I've had the game for a while, but I've never really played it much before now and as a result I've never really appreciated it much. I've been missing a lot! Initially, I thought that the class system was restrictive, and in a way it is. However, BIS crammed a lot of little details into the game making it worth playing as the different classes; they essentially used the classes to give the game more depth and replayability.
For example, just a few minutes ago, after becomming a Mage, I began learning the Unbroken Circle of Zerthimon that Dak'kon had with him. With each level of the circle, I gained experience (Quite a bit of experience, actually. I was a level 5 Mage before I left Mebbeth's hut) and a new spell. Everything was moving along great until I finished learning the Sixth Circle of Zerthimon. At that point, I discovered that I had surpassed even Dak'kon in my knowledge of Zerth! I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but what followed was one of the most interesting exchanges I've ever seen in a game.
What's most remarkable to me, though, is that I spent probably 30 - 45 minutes with just one object and one character in 4 CDs of game! This game was a bargain!
