Rumour: Wasteland 2?

Assuming that tab does indeed indicate Wasteland 2 is in development, I wouldn't read too much into inXile being in the market for developers with action/shooter experience. inXile could have more than one project going on.

'Course, I could be wrong...

well, they were also developing HEI$T and that was supposed to be an action game. but the artwork looks very neat!

However, for the RPG fan, there's something potentially disconcerting: inXile is looking for game designers with experience in shipped action or shooter titles...
Oh I hope so much that has actualy not so much to do with a Wasteland RPG (if it ever will come) there is really enough of those shooter like wannabe-light-RPG titles on the market with a post apoc future gone wrong theme ...

Well, this time Jason Andrerson is heading the project.

He wasn't a mastermind behind the Wasteland, or even in the team. On principle that's just wrong.

What does that have to do with anything?

The original was decades ago. Assuming he has the same amount of experience he had in the eighties is just downright laughable.

It has only to do with the thought of someone else working on the IP. He's not a villain like Todd Howard, but it just feels bad, nothing else.

That assumption was quite a wild one. Though personally I would show green light to a team with skills from the 80's, with maybe some interface and sound improvements.

I think Alan Pavlish, Ken St. Andre and Michael Stackpole are all out of the industry. Alan Pavlish might not be but the other two certainly are. So Fargo is the only one left anyway, and it's him working on his own IP (he's overseeing JDA after all).

The chances of this title sticking close to the design of the original are even smaller than they were for Fallout 3, tho'

Maybe that is not a practice, but I don't see any real programmers in "about" page on the site. Only administration. Moreover, in hiring job description, there are mainly web/phone oriented jobs [c#, asp...] that they seek, so my guess is, if they are hiring, they are not hiring for wasteland 2:) And I don't believe that it's in development already.

So, even if this is true, W2 will not be available for at least few years...

Meh. At least there wouldn't be yet another "next-gen" rape.

The "about" page doesn't list their entire staff, just their VPs. They were/are working on Hei$t, and that certainly necessitated a whole team, not listed.

Speaking of which; why is that game no longer listed on their site?
hmmm, quite strange! Because according to wikipedia the game isn't cancelled or even on hold:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HEI$T

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InXile_Entertainment

But one thing i would like to know in general is that what the fuck are these guys(InXile Entertainment) up to at all?!?!

I mean they have released Bard's Tale in 2004, Line Rider in 2008 and ... ??!!!

something is telling me that they will be bankrupt soon.

Alan Pavlish is not out of industry. He is currently the owner of Tantrum, Inc., a new gaming company with a website with just a logo (regardless of whether they'll actually make anything).

Bill Dugan is the owner of Torpex Games which made something called Schizoid.

But yeah, Stackpole is now a full-time writer and St. Andre is a librarian.

So yes, if Fargo screws this up, he'll be at least screwing up something he himself made (like with Bard's Tale), not a franchise he had nothing to do with before he bought it, like some other devs.

Yes, but the new InXile website has just been opened.

Does Wasteland need a sequel?

Wasteland 2 just seems like wrong-thinking to me. What are they going to do, pick up where the old story left off? Does anyone know where the old story left off? I don't, and I doubt many people under the age of 30 do.

If you have the capability to make a game, why not flex your brain a little and make something original?

Would people have preferred Wasteland 2 instead of Fallout?

Then again, you should make the game you want to play, I suppose.

1. Technically, Wasteland already had a sequel. Fountain of Dreams.

2. Do you think that people over the age of 30 do not play games, or something?

3. Personally, yes, I would have preferred another Wasteland game instead of Fallout.
