You probably already heard about Naughty Dog's PS3-exclusive The Last of Us, but in case you didn't, we should at least mention it as another upcoming post-apocalyptic game. A short description from the developer:<blockquote>"Abandoned cities reclaimed by nature. A population decimated by a modern plague. Survivors are killing each other for food, weapons; whatever they can get their hands on.

Joel, a brutal survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together if they hope to survive their journey across the US."</blockquote><center><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qLGxubfC1Ik?version=3&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></center>

Graphics looks crappy, and it's only a PS3 port so I'm supposing more action, less survival.

So another game I'll never play.

Hmm, I have to say that is a trailer worth watching though.

I enjoyed that. A real trailer for once, not something which reveals everything.

It left me curious.

Oh goody, another "cinematic" experience. :/

Edit: Or is there a "game" under there somewhere? Trailer totally pointless?

A port is a version from another console ported across. This isn't a port because it was designed on the PS3. No biggy.

Textures look low res but hey it's a console game. Some nice design on the outside though. It done got green in it instead of brown, more brown and some brown.

Characters are well voice acted though she does look a bit like Zoey from L4D.

Still surprised this game is coming out, it's been in development for years.

They need to port this to the PC. Probably will eventually. The trailer makes it look interesting, except for the zombies, but you have to see the actual game to know one way or another.

What exactly is in this trailer that looks "interesting"?
I seems to have an actual story about two people trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. If that story is well written and well implemented, it could be interesting. But, it remains to be seen if the game itself can live up to such a preliminary assessment.

It's post apocalyptic without being unrealistic.

It is about a father and daughter. The most unused relationship in all of media ever

You may want to tell that to the zombie human-dog hybrids. Still, it reminded me of The Road, which I guess is more than enough these days.

You are joking on both accounts. Especially the father/daughter thing.

Right?

Right? :(

Actually.. I can't immediately think of any stories that rely on a father/daughter relationship. Also, cannibals aren't that farfetched.

Anyways, as Naughty Dog is purely a Playstation developer it's highly doubted this will be ported to anything, including PC.

Seriously? You should think about that some more. (Or maybe I'm just unlucky enough to step over that in a LOT of media)

For me I don't even have to go a month back when I saw the movie "Contagion" (Granted there its a main plot thread under several)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contagion_(film)

And this year on TV started the comedy "Suburgatory" which also has the Father/Daughter theme. As far as Post-Apoc. goes I agree its rarer than Dad/Son theme but there are still several stories I remember.

Mostly the whole thing is father protecting daughter from Evil/Boys.

To be honest theres several more instances just from this year.
